Note From the President
The FACE Board of Directors and the sponsors of various scholarship recipients are truly touched by the thoughtful thank-you letters we have received from our January 2006 scholarship recipients and those who have come in touch with FACE. We thought you might like to read some of the quotes from these letters.
-Ann Looby, FACE Co-Founder and President

From Phyllis, a FACE Donor, to Ann

“I read Mizzou magazine when it comes and enjoy it very much. The article on you and your organization inspired me to make the donation. I know it is a small amount, and I would like to be able to give more. But small trickles will hopefully amount to large ripples and you will be successful in your cause.”

From Steve, in whose name a donation was made

“FACE is a new, young and very worthy charity running on an obviously tight budget. I am impressed that 100 percent of a donation goes directly to the program. I admire nonprofits like FACE. If one is going to work for a nonprofit in any capacity, one should make sacrifices. Obviously, the president of FACE is making sacrifices, and small though FACE might be, it looks as if it is doing some very good things.”

From Ruby, in whose name a donation was made

“When we opened the card from our friend Sue at Solstice I was so shocked and amazed at the gift she gave us. My mom read it out loud to us and started crying and couldn't finish it so I had to for her.

“I wanted to tell my 5th grade classmates about Samuel so I brought the letter into school. My teacher was very interested and most of my friends were happy for Samuel to have me as a sponsor, and some were jealous. I wish we had better contact with him and that we could send some school supplies. I would love to meet Samuel some day.”

From Samuel, a scholarship recipient

“I am a 17-year-old orphan in Form 2 ... It is with great humility and gratitude that I write this letter. ... I am touched by your help, and this has given me inspiration to work even harder. My dream is to become a lawyer. I wish one time to be the one helping others like you are doing. I lack words to use to express my gratitude for [your] kindness and generosity. I will simply say thank you.”

From Sophia, a scholarship recipient

“The aim of writing this letter is to thank you for what you have done for me because I was able to join a high school. ... When I received the news that you sent a cheque to pay my school fees, I was so glad. I was as happy as no other day.”

From David, a scholarship recipient

“I would like to take this opportunity to register my appreciation to both of you for sponsoring me in my secondary school education. ... I want to thank you for your generosity. With your help I will be able to stay in class through out the term. I promise you that I will work hard to achieve my goals in life and that your help will not go to waste at the end of my secondary education.”

From Rose, a scholarship recipient

“All in all, I have no words to express my gratitude for the kindness you have shown unto me. ... Honestly, I have no words to express this feeling I have in my heart, but thank you...you have uplifted my spirits. ... Thank you once again for I can see a future coming on my way and a hope of attaining my dream career of being a surgeon. ...”

From Anne, a scholarship recipient

“I wish to express my sincere heartfelt gratitude for your overwhelming support and kindness you've accorded me. I'm now assured for getting through my final lap in school as far as finances are concerned. I'm working hard to get to my goals of becoming a bank manager, as my aspired career.”
